Privacy is important to Sightful (hereinafter also referred to as "we, us"). We will keep you as well informed as possible about any personal data we gather: why and when it was collected, and how long it will be stored. Personal data means all information related to you as a natural person, which could be your e-mail address, and also your name or address.

At what point do we process your personal data?

We collect data and place certain cookies so that our website functions properly and to help us process your order promptly. If you have a Sightful account, for example, we store your data so that we can process repeat orders as efficiently as possible. Google Analytics is an example of a cookie we use to track which pages are of greatest interest to our site visitors.

What personal data do we collect or process?

We sell lenses and related products through our website, and lenses can be ordered with or without an account. If you create an account, we store the following data in our system;

Sex;
first name and surname;
telephone number;
e-mail address;
address details (postcode, street, house number, town) and date of birth;

Other personal data

payment details (such as credit card number, account number and bank sort code);
IP address.

How do we use your personal data?

We use your personal data to process your order, to send service and reminder e-mails, to provide customer service and repeat orders as well as for potential return shipments. If you wish, our reminder e-mail which prompts you when it’s time to order your new lenses, can always be turned off in your account page on our website.

Payment details

When placing an order, your payment information is gathered to facilitate order payment. This data is transmitted in an encrypted format and will not be stored by us. However, we can store your payment method, so we can then prompt you and thus process any subsequent orders more quickly. We also store more general payment information for tax purposes.

When you register for our newsletter without an account, we will save your e-mail address. We will then send you our newsletter approximately once a month containing offers, promotions and information we would like to share with you. Every newsletter also includes a link you can use to unsubscribe from our newsletter if you wish.

Reviews

Sightful can contact you by e-mail to invite you for a review of our website and/or our products. We use an external company, Trustpilot, to collect feedback. Other data & social media

In addition to this data, we also collect data from the device with which you visit our website, together with information about your website visit itself. This way we can continue to improve our website, and we can see which pages are popular. Information about which pages you visit and which products you have viewed can be shared with Criteo to display advertisements on other websites. You can read Criteo's privacy policy here.

We will also collect your data if you contact us via a social media platform such as Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, or use the social login on our chat facility. And naturally, we handle this information just as carefully as the other data we gather.

The social buttons on our website use code generated by the social networks themselves, so please consult Facebook and Twitter privacy policies if you wish to find out more about what they do with the personal data they collect via this method.

With whom do we share your personal data?

We will only provide your information to third parties if this is necessary for the implementation of your order, or to achieve another purpose for which you have given your permission (for example, to send you our newsletter), including the engagement of third parties if it is necessary to secure that goal.

We will never sell your personal data to third parties. To ensure the security of your personal data, we have entered into processing agreements with all third parties we engage to process your order and to maintain and improve our website.

How long do we keep your personal data?

We will always store your personal data carefully and securely, and for no longer than is necessary to meet the requirements of any applicable legislation. Certain legislation may oblige us to retain some of your personal data for a longer period. For example, tax legislation requires us store debtor and creditor information for seven years.

Complaints

If you have a complaint about the processing of your personal data, then of course we would ask you to contact us. However, you also have the right to submit a complaint to the Dutch Data Protection Authority via this link.

Amendments

Sightful reserves the right to make changes to this privacy policy. Any changes will be published on our website, so please check our privacy policy regularly to ensure you are aware of any revisions. We constantly review our website to improve our performance, which can sometimes also result in minor changes and improvements to our privacy policy. However, your rights will remain unchanged.
